Our last stop, after Fisherman's Wharf and Ghirardelli Square, was the gigantic Christmas Tree in Union Square. We rode the F Train which took us to downtown San Francisco. We got off Powell station and walked towards Geary Street where Union Square is. The moment I saw the place, I instantly felt the Christmas vibe.
I don't know about you but Christmas tops my list in "My Favorite Holidays" category. After enjoying the Christmas atmosphere in Union Square, my friends decided to take me to one of their favorite Thai place called King of Thai. It's just a short walk from Union Square. Besides, it's always much better to walk if you want to get more acquainted with any place you're visiting. Just make sure that the streets are safe and well-lit. The moment I entered King of Thai, the smell of different aromatic herbs and spices drowned my senses in a good way. We found a good seat and ordered away.
The serving sizes were just right. It was my first time to eat Papaya Salad and I must say that I liked it. It didn't taste like atsara or pickled papaya at all. The spicy lime dressing blended well with the ground peanuts, dried shrimps, tomatoes, green beans and cabbage. It was absolutely refreshing. The Pad Thai, on the other hand, has that mild peanut taste that went very well with the rice noodles. As for the Pineapple Fried Rice, I was a bit hesitant to try it because I'm not a huge fan of pineapple. Aside from the fruit, it also came with raisins which I also dislike. But then, I believe in the saying "Don't bash it until you've tried it" so i gave the fried rice a shot. It wasn't so bad. The chicken, shrimps and cashew nuts saved the day. Even though it was tasty, I won't order it again just because of the pineapples and raisins. But I'd still go back to this restaurant because there are still a lot of dishes to try.
Overall, my Sunday was unbelievably fun! From morning 'til night, I got to see so many sights, I got to taste good dishes, I got to walk the busy tourist spots of San Francisco and most of all, I got to enjoy the company of dear friends.
We took the train on the way back to the parking lot but since I was too busy looking at the pretty lights around me, it was already too late when realize that my friends got off the train! Imagine yourself pounding on the train's glass doors shouting "HEY!" to your friends who were already on the platform with their surprised looks because they couldn't believe you're still in the train and giving them the panic look while the vehicle started to move away from the platform. HILARIOUS!!! Good thing I have a mobile phone with me so I gave them a call and told them to pick me up at the next station. Until now, whenever we remember that incident, it still gives all of us a good ROFLMAO (rolling on the floor laughing my ass off)!
To Audz and Kevin, I had an incredible time! Thank you lots and I'll see you guys again soon!
