A few minutes after landing in Dumaguete, we reached downtown. Since it was still early in the morning (read: 8:30am), most of the local restaurants were not open for business yet. Most of the locals pointed us to Jollibee, McDonald's and Chowking when we asked where we can get some decent breakfast. But since we're in a different place, we wanted to get the taste of what the locals eat. Then one driver told us to check out this eatery called Food Net. Good thing it's open.
Food Net is set up canteen style. Different dishes are lined up in a glass display counter. After getting our orders, we found us a table near the jumbo electric fan. Do note that Food Net is not air-conditioned. We got ourselves chicken barbeque, vegetables and a dessert.
Dishes weren't impressive. Don't get me wrong. I also eat in carinderias, eateries and canteens because I believe that good food is not limited to just fancy restaurants. But in Food Net's case, it wasn't as flavorful as I hoped it to be. The red orange Chicken Barbeque was surprisingly good though. It may have a weird color but the taste is quite nice to the palate. As for the Leche Flan, it was a letdown. It lacked the signature creaminess of a flan, not to mention a bit bland to the taste. The prices of the dishes, on the other hand, were very cheap. We spent P100/each including 2 bottles of mineral water.
Overall, Not a good start for us but we're happy to know that the food we ate was enough to sustain us for what's going to be a busy day.
Walk with me to the boulevard. Up next! *grins*
