Happy New Year everyone!
I still can't believe that 2009 is over and we're now on our 2nd day of 2010!
Last year has been an interesting ride- the good, the bad, the beautiful and the ugly. Nevertheless, I wouldn't have it any other way. Now that its 2010, I know that great, wonderful things await!
Speaking of wonderful things, I spent the first day of 2010 with my dear friends. My friend & her husband went home to visit from NZ with their super adorable 4-month old son and we had lunch yesterday to celebrate the New Year. Most of the restaurants in Serendra closes at 3pm so we went to our default. Yep, you guessed right, Italianni's.
Since the weather was nice, we opted to go al fresco. It was fun to watch dogs and their owners having a grand time playing on the not-so grassy lawn of Bonifacio High Street. Oh, and I even spotted Chuvaness and her boys with yayas in BHS.
15 minutes after placing our orders, they finally arrived.
Spinach & Artichoke Formaggio (Piccolo)- Php250.00
Quattro Formaggio Pizza- Php450.00
Chicken Parmagiana (Lunch)- Php395.00
Grilled Pork Chops Au Poivre (One Chop)- Php425.00
As always, Italianni's delivered. It was just recently that I discovered their Fried Calamari & I instantly loved it the moment I tasted the dish. The thickness of the batter was just right and the freshness of the squids were evident. Eventhough the grilled pork chop wasn't as flavorful as it used to be, the gravy still brought it home. Comfort food at its finest.
Desserts in Italianni's are the bomb, most especially their Tartufo, but we chose to grab desserts somewhere else. A good friend told me that I should try Larry's Cafe & Bar's souffle. So we did.
The walk from Italianni's to Larry's Cafe & Bar in Serendra wasn't that far. It gave our tummies the chance to digest our lunch to make way for desserts even for a short period of time. When we got inside, the wait staff informed us that the souffle takes about 30 minutes to prepare. We ordered their chocolate milkshake while waiting.
Chocolate Milkshake- Php155.00
I like the creaminess and the thickness of their milkshake. It felt like sipping a Rocky Road ice cream. After a few minutes, our desserts arrived.
Chocolate Eh! Souffle- Php240.00
When we saw the souffle, we stared at it in awe. One souffle can feed 2-3 chocolate lovers. The bittersweet chocolate was light and fluffy. It was heaven in a ramekin. Had we not eaten lunch, we could've ordered all their souffles- Banana, Mango and Grand Marnier. The creme brulee, on the other hand, didn't really hit it home for me. It was good but I've tasted better versions. The eggs are so dominant that it didn't create a balanced flavor. Nevertheless, I will go back to Larry's Cafe & Bar for their souffle.
Overall, our first day of 2010 went well. We surely welcomed 2010 with adventurous appetites.
New Year, New Eats, New Travels.
