Been months since my last visit in Tagaytay. If I can remember correctly, the last time I've set foot in Tagaytay was February of this year. I went to Taal Vista Hotel for a weekend getaway. Since I need some fresh air to clear my head, my friends & I paid Tagaytay a visit yesterday. Even though it was just a day trip, we enjoyed the place a lot.
Our first stop was Taaleña. It was our first time to dine in this restaurant. Whenever we want to eat something Pinoy, we often go to Leslie's. So this time, we went to try something new which also comes with the majestic view of the volcano.
We chose to sit by the terrace so we can have a view of Taal Volcano. Good thing storm Santi didn't stay long so we were able to enjoy a good weather paired with the chilly breeze of Tagaytay. Once seated, the menu was handed to us and soon it was order time.
We were debating whether to have Bulalo or Sinigang. The latter won.
Crispy Pata (still remains to be my favorite pork dish)
Bottomless Iced Tea & Pinakbet
I know you're wondering why the prices of the dishes are missing. Really my bad. Wasn't able to take note of the prices plus forgot to get the receipt. I was so enjoying the company of my friends that I completely forgot about it. *sheepish grin*
Let's get on to the food, shall we? The sinigang wasn't as sour as I expected it to be. I like my sinigang to give me that "mukhasim" look. On a scale of 1-5 (5 being the highest), I'm giving their sourness level a 3.0. The Crispy Pata, on the other hand, was good. The pork skin was crispy that it crackles with every bite. The meat may not be that tender and moist but it was flavorful enough. I'd still choose Lola Idang's version as well as Krocodile Grill's. I liked the Pla-Pla. The fish was stuffed with onions, tomatoes and red & green chilies. It was a joy to eat.
Overall, it was a hearty late lunch. The food could use a bit of improvement with the taste and flavor but the meal was still satisfying. I guess the view helped a lot in our overall satisfaction.
