I'm interrupting my Bohol vacation story for the meantime to give way to what I'm about to share with everyone. *smile*
I've always loved fireworks. I find them simply magical. It's as if my problems suddenly becomes non-existent whenever I see beautiful fireworks. Not only that, I've always wanted to photograph them in action. And since the World Pyro Olympics is back, I took that as an opportunity for me to practice taking photos of the fireworks. I haven't been to any WPO shows (even when it was done at the Mall of Asia) so I invited my friends to join me in watching the first show last Saturday. It was a competition between Germany and China. After buying the tickets for the Special Viewing Area (about Php500.00), we were all set for the show.
Since we know that parking spaces will be full, we went to Bonifacio High Street around 1:30pm, ate a late lunch and grabbed coffee. We went inside the venue around 4:00pm and found us a good seat in the T.G.I.F. (Thank God It's Friday) Restaurant's booth. They're offering ala carte dishes and set menu.
Before the show started, 2 marching bands performed.
During this time, the clouds were getting more gray by the minute and it looked like rain was about to pour. It indeed poured. The rain was responsible in causing the show to start an hour later. It was drizzling on and off when Germany strutted their stuff. By the way, this is a Pyromusical show. Meaning, music will be played and the fireworks will dance with it.
Germany's show lasted for 18 minutes. After Germany, the rain started to slowly pour and this time, we needed a big umbrella to keep us dry. It's such a challenge to hold Nestor and hold an umbrella at the same time. The rain was pouring mad when China started the show.
China finished in 17 minutes. My friends timed the performance. I really do not know how they're being judged. I've yet to ask my friend who owns a fireworks company. But if you're going to ask me, I noticed that Germany's fireworks went well with the music. They told a story about war, peace, love and hate. For China, I noticed that their fireworks filled the air with thick smoke that we couldn't see some of the effects. A friend told me that it's because they fired lots both coming from the ground and from above. Ergo, the thick smoke.
Well, however way they're going to be judged, one thing's for sure...I enjoyed tons! It was magical!
I'm going to watch the 2nd run this Saturday, want to join me? Seriously, I'm looking for company. *smile*
