A fabulous vacation won't be complete without FOOD TRIPS. Am I right or am I right?
When I went to Panglao, Bohol last year, I tried most of the restaurants along Alona Beach and it was quite challenging to find good grub. I tried Jasz Restaurant which was a letdown (by the way, when I checked the beach scene, I noticed that Jasz Restaurant is no longer there), I tried the restaurant of Lost Horizon Hotel which was a hit-and-miss, I tried Coco Vida Bar & Restaurant which was just okay, I tried Pyramid Grill and Hayahay Pizza which were good enough, and I tried Oops! Bar which, of course, tops my list when it comes to their American Breakfast fare. I was pretty excited to try Amorita's dishes because I want to see if their food is as delightful as the resort.
We arrived around 10-ish in the morning in Amorita and they already had us occupy the room even though 2:00pm is the given check-in time. It was really nice of them. I was without sleep when I arrived in Bohol so my first instinct when I saw the room was to crawl into bed and enjoy Amorita's Deluxe accommodations. Woke up in the afternoon with a grumbling stomach and finally decided to check out Saffron Restaurant's offers.
As soon as we entered the restaurant, we were warmly greeted by the wait staff. Dining with a view is always a requirement so we chose the table closest to the infinity pool. Then, we ordered away.
Visayang Fish Tinola- Php280.00
We were so happy with the food! We got addicted to their Kesong Puti Frittata because it was excellent. The tomato salsa went perfectly well with the crusty and herb-flavored kesong puti. It was a little piece of heaven in a plate. The Sinigang and Tinola might be a bit pricey but the serving sizes were generous. One order can actually feed 2 people. The fish in my Tinola was fresh and meaty. The soups were well-seasoned and flavorful. Since we got satisfied with our food, we didn't think twice in trying out their desserts.
I'm not a big fan of Brazo de Mercedez because I don't really like desserts that are too sweet. But their Brazo de Mercedez has that orange flavor to it that blended well with the sweet custard. The Panna Cotta, on the other hand, has the right firmness, creaminess and sweetness. I especially loved the mango balls.
After having lunch, I was glad that the dishes did not disappoint. It was exactly the reason why I took most of my meals in Amorita's Saffron Restaurant during my stay. Let me show you what's for dinner:
Crispy Pata (Php500.00) and Chopseuy (Php200.00)
All American Cheeseburger- Php310.00
As for breakfast, it's buffet style. It came with the room package that I got. Too bad their delicious Hot Chocolate is not included in their buffet so we needed to pay to get our chocolate drink fix. We didn't mind though, because it was really good. By the way, they serve Lavazza coffee *woohoo*.
They have the following stations- the Pancakes and French Toast Section where they can make you fresh batches everytime you order, the Bread section where 3-4 types of bread are available, the Soup and Porridge Section, the Egg Section where they will make you a 3-egg omelette with the fresh ingredients you picked from the selection, the Cereals Section where you can pick from 2-3 different cornflakes to start your day, the Salad section and the Entree section. Fresh fruits and fruit juices are also available as well as brewed coffee and fresh milk.
Crispy Tawilis and Fresh Fruits
Overall, the dishes in Amorita's Saffron Restaurant are as delightful as the resort. I'm happy because finally I found a place in Panglao where I can enjoy delectable food paired with great service. Saraaaap!
