Long overdue.
My friends and I talked about this Lusso dinner way back August 2009. Good thing our hectic calendar cleared up last weekend making it possible for us to get together and visit Lusso.
Located in Greenbelt 5 (GB5), Lusso is this posh champagne bar owned by Margarita Fores. Since it was a good night, we decided to go al fresco. The men in white led us to our seats and presented to us the menu. After placing our orders, that was the time I got to admire the place. The combination of light olive green and champagne-colored cushioned seats were refreshing to the eyes and the chandelier that was once The Peninsula Manila's gave that sophisticated touch. I also loved the fact that they served us water with lime. It saved me the effort of asking for either a lime or lemon wedge for my water.
Soon enough, our Truffle Potato Crisps arrived.
Truffle Potato Crisps- Php150.00
After 10 minutes, the rest of our orders arrived.
Lobster and River Prawn Roll- Php450.00
Lusso Demi-pound Burger- Php595.00
I love the simplicity of the presentation for it showcased the food more. The potato crisps drizzled with truffle oil was very good. It was light and well-seasoned. The Lobster and River Prawn Roll was wonderful. The freshness of both the lobster and the prawn made me smile with delight. The pasta on the other hand was a bit of a letdown for me. The Asagio cheese, mushroom and parma were blended perfectly but the pasta was overcooked. It clumped stubbornly making it impossible to twirl the pasta with the fork and getting all of it at once when you finally succeeded. Had it not been for the mushy spinach pasta, I would rave about it. Well, thank heavens for the demi-pound burger for the dish denitely redemeed my confidence in Lusso. The size of the burger came as a shock to me. It was big and beautiful. One bite of the sandwich made my heart skipped a beat. The crusty toasted bread, the caramelized onions and the beef burger with foie gras were amazing. You have the option of drizzling the burger with their milky homemade mayonnaise, which is one of the best homemade mayonnaise I've tasted, to further enjoy the burger but I opted to savor it in all it's naked glory.
Dinner won't be complete without dessert, so we ordered their chocolate mousse.
The mousse was sinfully delish. I loved the feel of the smooth, velvety texture of the dark chocolate mousse in my mouth. It was such a delight.
Overall, it was wonderful night. Nothing can beat a night of good food and great friends. We'll go back to Lusso again. Definitely.
To my dates Owen and Tata, thanks for a lovely night. To Noel, you'll go with us the next time we visit Lusso ha.
