Last 2007, I had my Death by KaCheapan party.
Last 2008, I had my Death by Kapistahan party.
This year, no DBK party for me. Just a simple kaarawan for me.
My birthday month hasn't ended yet so I still might throw a party. But right now, I just wanted a quiet and relaxing celebration. On the day of my special day, I went to celebrate half the day all by myself. It was sweet.
I watched The Proposal with a bucket of popcorn at my favorite movie house. I was laughing my heart out because the film was tremendously fun and funny. My favorite part was when Sandra Bullock was chanting and grooving to "Get Low" by Little Jon and the East Side Boyz. I was clapping despite by bucket of popcorn. Yes, I clap while laughing whenever I encounter something funny.
After the movie, I went to church to hear mass. I thanked the Mighty Being for all the blessings he has and has been continuously giving me. I promised him that I will keep on appreciating life and love.
When the mass ended, I went to buy my latest favorite...
FRO-YO!
Comes in 2 sizes, regular and large. Plain yogurt is priced at Php80.00 for regular and Php110.00 for large. You only need to pay Php40.00 for 3 toppings. Of course, I went for the large cup and got me 3 toppings- walnuts, fresh mango and new york cheesecake. It was the best!
Lately, I've been craving for frozen yogurt almost every single day.
While enjoying my large cup of fro-yo, I went for a stroll while waiting for my friend to join me for a simple birthday dinner. As soon as my friend arrived, we went to La Maison Brasserie. The last time I went to La Maison was over a year ago and deeply enjoyed their baby back ribs.
As soon as we entered, we were seated beside the window and was handed the menu. I noticed that their menu was now covered in something leather and not with denim anymore. Good thing, the great dishes were still there. After placing our orders, we were served with their free appetizer.
No more coloured bread this time unlike my previous visit. It was now a simple crusty garlic stick. I didn't like it that much. I felt like eating a biscocho from the supermarket. Our entrees arrived in less than 15 minutes.
Herb-crusted Chicken (Half)- Php390.00
Baby Back Ribs (Half)- Php570.00
The chicken was flavorful with the aromatic rosemary. I wasn't such a big fan of the sweet honey sauce. It reminds me of grilled chicken in Reyes BBQ. As for the baby back ribs, it still has that same fall-off-the-bones goodness. The serving size was huge considering that we only ordered a half slab.
Since it was a weekday, there were only a handful of diners which made the dinner more enjoyable. Peace and quiet. One can only get them in the metropolis once in a while.
It was a lovely meal despite the subtle changes in La Maison.
Lovely birthday, too. *smiles*
